Plot
Following the events of The Batman (2022), Oz Cobb, aka The Penguin, makes a play to take control of Gotham’s criminal underworld. Colin Farrell and Cristin Milioti talk about what it’s like to be in the underworld. Colin Farrell fought hard to make his version of The Penguin smoke in The Batman (2022), but it didn’t pan out. However, in his own series, the character is depicted as a casual smoker who prefers cigars.
So the first episode is over and it was great
The DC Studios logo takes place in a rainy alley in Gotham. The umbrella falls and the logo changes to the Warner Bros. logo. On The Graham Norton Show: Lady Gaga/Demi Moore/Colin Farrell/Richard Ayoade/Jack Savoretti (2024).
I’ve never seen Farrell so invested in a character
I mean, yes, he’s wearing a thick suit, but you’d never know it. His attitude, body language and voice make you immerse yourself in the character and see only the Penguin. He is no relation to the other live TV penguins, Burgess Meredith or Robin Lord Taylor. This is a mobster from New York, a wise guy.
It’s a Scorsese mobster, but without the sharp tongue
The plot is simple, similar to Lord Taylors Penguin on CW’s Gotham. Penguin is the middle man in a mafia organization. So far he’s done his time, slowly working his way into the crowd, and then when the Riddler blows up the city wall and his boss dies in the movie, he sees an opportunity to move out into the world. Now begins the game of cross, double cross and probably triple cross.
