Soprano Angel Blue made her debut at the Metropolitan in the long-awaited role of an Ethiopian princess torn between love and homeland, one of the key roles in the opera. Musical director Yannick Nézé-Séguin takes the stage for Michael Mayer’s exciting new production, which transports audiences to the towering pyramids and gilded tombs of ancient Egypt with intricate projections and dazzling animation. Mezzo-soprano Judith Kutasi, making her debut in Verdi’s Force of Fate in 2024, plays Aida’s Egyptian rival Amneris, while tenor Petr Bečala plays the soldier Radames, completing the opera’s greatest love triangle. The stellar cast also includes baritone Quinn Kelsey as Amonasro and bass Dmitry Beloselsky as Ramfis.
