Plot
The Jackal is an elusive assassin who makes a living by carrying out hits for the highest fee
He soon meets his match in a stubborn British intelligence officer, who follows him on a thrilling cat-and-mouse chase across Europe. “The Day of the Jackal”; The novel is set in 1963 and involves an assassination attempt on then-President of France, Charles de Gaulle.
A remake of The Day of the Jackal (1973)
The show moves the action to the present day. Eddie Redmayne is outstanding in The Day of the Jackal, bringing depth and intensity to his role, keeping the audience on their toes with every move.
However, Lashana Lynch feels a little out of place with her role here
His performance elevates the story, adding layers of intrigue that make him a compelling lead. While talented, her portrayal isn’t quite in sync with Redmayne’s nuanced performance, which at times disrupts the flow and immersion.
A stronger lead would elevate this
It does make you wonder about the casting choices — could a different pairing have made this an instant classic? A stronger balance between the leads could have given the story the epic impact it deserved.
