A grieving therapist begins telling his clients exactly what he thinks
Ignoring his training and ethics, he finds himself making huge changes in people’s lives—including his own. When Brett Goldstein, Jason Segel, and Bill Lawrence were asked how they got Harrison Ford on the show, Segel said that Goldstein originally wanted a “Harrison Ford type” and that he would audition people who looked like Ford. Segel told Goldstein that they should at least get him to Ford first, figuring he would turn it down outright, but at least other people would hear that Harrison Ford had been brought on board, sparking interest from other notable actors.

And Jessica is perfect
He has the weird, goofy energy and confidence needed for this role. Her humor is perfect for the dialogue. It’s the new way to do situational dramas. No real jokes, just endearing personalities with a hint of quirk and family circumstances that are a little above the line of normal but still relatable.
It’s just impossible
Sure, Jimmy’s behavior as a therapist is completely absurd. You would immediately lose your license. But we allow metaphorical situations in dramas. And in this scenario we feel a strong determination in the decisions.
For me it’s easy and fun
We have to give the writers the edge and try to capture the point. Other reviewers seemed to have a hard time.
