Plot
Two Harkonnen sisters battle forces that threaten the future of humanity and form the legendary sect that would become known as the Bene Gesserit. Whether exploring the stars, escaping dystopias, or making the world a better place, these women are what science fiction is all about. Anderson. A prequel to the original Dune that tells the story of how the Brotherhood of Evil evolved into the Bene Gesserit.

The incident with Valya Harkonnen is taken from ‘Mentats of Dune’. The three books intertwine the development of the Brotherhood, the Mentats, the Navigators, and the Suk Doctors. I don’t just want to criticize the first episode of a TV show, but this was average on every level. The acting was lacking, except for a few well-known actors like Mark Strong, Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, and maybe Travis Fimmel.
The story was very loose, and the dialogue was not worthy of Dune
The rest of the actors looked like they had just come out of film academy or something. I like slow-paced dramas that take forever to unfold because I know the payoff is worth the wait. But this wasn’t just slow, there was a lot going on, but it was just plain boring, I don’t know how else to put it. The soundtrack that was used in the movies was a bit plagiarized here, with a few familiar voices popping up here and there, but the timing was just off.
My question is, did you like the way it was done?
I listened to a lot of music here that had no effect. I remember the movies just had people talking, and suddenly Hans Zimmer worked his magic, and I got really excited. But I know he didn’t do any of the sound, and I don’t have to check. I’m not sure if Denis Villeneuve was involved in this production, I hope not.
Something to think about
Would such a mediocre TV show after two epic movies affect the highly anticipated third movie? I’m curious because The Penguin was so good that I appreciated Batman even more than I did after watching it, and I can’t wait for the second movie. So how would Dune: Prophecy affect the third movie, if there is one at all?
